it is better to have a business degree than a photography degree, you can learn photography on your own, but you can't learn business.

What are some of the challenges starting off as a professional photographer?
 you have to make sure you have all the right equipment, and a lot of money to get started.

What are some of the benefits of working as a professional photographer?
you get to travel, and meet lots of different people.

What is more important as a photographer cameras or lights? Why?
Lights, you can manipulate a lot of things with the lights. The camera all you need is a few good lenses and you are set.
 
What did he say about the importance of networking? What were his suggestions on how to do it?
"Your network is you net-worth" The more people you come in contact with, the more chances of getting more clients that you have.
